Dragging a folder with audio files and a playlist file into the player window or adding it via the Add File option duplicates the amount of playlist entries.

There is currently no way to restrict incoming files by type, so adding a folder will add all playable types within, including playlists.

Alternatively, is there a way to provide an option that when you open a single file Cog will also load the audio files that reside as siblings in the same folder as that file?

That is not possible with App Sandbox, as you have to grant access to the entire folder, and currently, it only automatically grants access to individual files, or whole folders if you add those.
